Troisième séance du séminaire « Comment exposer la polyphonie ? » avec l’artiste Natascha Sadr Haghighian et la pensée de la théoricienne de littérature Caryl Emerson

Les projets de l’artiste Natasha Sadr Haghighian, et plus généralement sa démarche, intègrent des points de vue et des voix pluriels afin d’interroger des phénomènes sociopolitiques liés à des questions migratoires, économiques et militaires, ainsi qu’écologiques. Les formes ainsi mises en œuvre sont autant d’interprétations poreuses réalisées avec différents acteurs et qui se répondent les unes aux autres.

Caryl Emerson est spécialiste des langues slaves, théoricienne de la littérature et traductrice. Ce travail de passeur d’une langue à une autre a profondément nourri sa réflexion autour des écrits de Mikhaïl Bakhtine et sa compréhension de ce dont la polyphonie est faite, ainsi que de ses modalités. Elle invite ainsi à réfléchir à la manière dont on peut rendre compte, se référer et interpréter des notions bakhtiniennes sans les trahir.

Third workshop of the seminar “Exhibiting Polyphony” with artist Natascha Sadr Haghighian and the ideas of translator Caryl Emerson 

The projects of the artist Natascha Sadr Haghighian, and more generally her mode of elaborating her works, integrate plural points of view and voices in order to study socio-political phenomena relating to migration and economic, military, as well as ecological questions. The forms that she puts into place are part of permeable interpretations responding to each other.

Caryl Emerson is specialist of slavic languages and literatures, and translator. Crossing languages has profoundly influenced her reflexion on Mikhaïl Bakhtine and her understanding of what polyphony is composed of, as well as its modalities. Her research invites us to think about the ways one can give account of, refer to and interpret the notions of Bakhtine without contradicting them.
