Fellowships & Scholarships

The funding and training of predoctoral and early career art historians are among the central commitments of the DFK Paris.
To support academic excellence and aid in the establishment of international careers, the institute offers a variety of funding programs for graduate students, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and (junior) professors. Furthermore, it is possible to affiliate as a guest researcher at the house with your own funding from a third party. The institute also sees itself as a resource for facilitating connections between researchers in Germany and France and provides predoctoral and early career art historians from around the world with opportunities for networking. Proficiency in French is required.

Alongside a variety of fellowships for postgraduate researchers, the funding programs of the DFK Paris include study days and study trips as well as colloquia for more focused training. Also available are paid five- or six-month internships – whether in the institute’s research infrastructure for students of art history, in the library for students of library science, or in the administrative office for students of public administration.
