The DFK Paris Foundation
The DFK Paris Foundation
The DFK Paris Foundation (Stiftung zur Förderung des Deutschen Forums für Kunstgeschichte Paris / DFK Paris-Förderstiftung) owes its existence to the founding director of the German Center for Art History Paris (DFK Paris), Thomas W. Gaehtgens. Established in 2008, it is a non-profit unincorporated foundation under private law and is part of the administration of the Max Weber Foundation, a public-law foundation under the authority of the German federal government.
The foundation’s objective is to foster scientific and research activities at the DFK Paris and in cooperation between the DFK Paris and external researchers. In particular, this objective is realized through:
- support for academic events and research projects;
- funding research trips to the DFK Paris or, as part of joint projects, to partner institutions;
- grants open to researchers from any country;
- recognition of outstanding scientific achievements through the award of prizes and distinctions.
The Board of Directors decides how the resources of the foundation should be used. The foundation’s Board of Directors is made up of:
- the Director of the DFK Paris (also Chairperson of the Board of Directors);
- the Chairperson of the Academic Advisory Council of the DFK Paris;
- the President of the Institut national de l’histoire de l’art (INHA, Paris), who may be represented by another scientific employee of the INHA.
