Research
The German Center for Art History initiates and supports innovative projects involving art in Germany and France as well as artistic relations between Germany and France throughout the ages. Of particular interest are the different theoretical and historiographical traditions of the two countries.
Research is conducted in long-term projects and international research teams. Therefor, regular cooperation with institutions from the guest country and on an international level are important. Central to the DFK Paris, however, is also individual research on art historical projects.
A particular focus of the research is placed on the center’s annual theme: for this, the board of directors and the research advisory board present a special field of inquiry each year.
Through collaborative research projects, the center hopes, of course, to contribute to encouraging researchers to form stronger connections and exchange ideas. It is also for this reason that the numerous events offered or supported by the DFK Paris are always designed in the interest of fostering an open dialog.
