Laurence Bertrand Dorléac is professor for art history at Sciences Po Paris where she leads the seminar “Arts et Sociétés” at the Center for History and publishes the bilingual “Lettre du Seminaire” since 2004. She is honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France since 1999.

She is the author of numerous texts about art and the art world of the 20th century, including Histoire de l'art. Paris 1940-1944. Ordre national, traditions et modernités (Publications de la Sorbonne, 1986), Art of the defeat (translated by Jane Mary Todd, Getty Research Institute, 2008 [1993, 2010]), L'ordre sauvage. Violence, dépense et sacré dans l'art des années 1950-1960 (Gallimard, 2004), Après la guerre (Gallimard, 2010) and Contre-déclin. Monet et Spengler dans les jardins de l’histoire (Gallimard, 2012). She curated the exhibition “L'Art en guerre. France 1938-1947 : de Picasso à Dubuffet” shown in 2013 at the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris and at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

At the DFK Paris, Laurence Bertrand Dorléac was Senior Professor of the research project “OwnRealiyt. To Each His Own Reality” (2011-2015) and she co-directed the annual theme 2014/2015 “The Arts in Paris after the Liberation”.
