Vita

Marie-Madeleine Ozdoba is a researcher in art history and theory with previous experience in architectural practice. She graduated in Architecture from the Technische Universität Wien and in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths College, London. She has worked for several years as an architect and urban designer, before undertaking her doctoral research, exploring the visual narrative of modern architecture in US newspapers and magazines as forming site of a new relation to the future after the second World War, an approach combining architectural history and visual studies. She completed her dissertation, intitled "Tomorrow’s Life Today". Le mythe de l’architecture ultramoderne dans la presse américaine (1947-1964), at the Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris in 2019 under the supervision of André Gunthert and Giovanni Careri.


Researcher and scientific coordinator at the German Center for Art History – DFK Paris since 2018, she coordinates the 2022/24 annual research theme "The Visible and the Sayable. The Languages of Art History"; her postdoctoral research project, “The City of Tomorrow” in the GDR? On media narratives of architecture and urban development projects (1965–1975), pursues the exploration of the relations between narratives of modern architecture and regimes of historicity in the second half of the 20th century in the context of the GDR. She coedited the volume Nouveaux médias: mythes et experimentations dans les arts (DFK Paris/NAIMA) with André Gunthert and Thomas Kirchner in 2021; her article "Dreamscape Century City: Architectural Rendering, Mass Media, and the Temporal Imaginary of the Postwar Capitalist Enterprise" was published in the Getty Research Journal in 2022.
