Guidance and Resources

In addition to providing grants and the use of its facilities, the German Center for Art History (DFK Paris) also offers career-related information and advice. In particular, researchers can receive assistance in preparing applications for financial aid from national and international funding organizations. The DFK Paris sees itself as a forum for contact among French, German, and international art historians.

The institute also publishes a guide for those wishing to do art historical research in France (Faire un doctorat ou de la recherche en histoire de l’art en France). Written with the cooperation of the French National Institute for Art History (INHA), the French Association of Archeology and Art-History University Professors (ApAHAu), the Central Institute for Art History (ZI), and the Fondation de France, this brochure provides an overview of the research facilities and funding opportunities available in France (last updated in 2013/14).

Other services for researchers are offered by the Max Weber Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
